After completing the first phase of my internship, I transitioned into the second phase, where I joined Seamgen’s marketing team to focus on search engine optimization (SEO). This phase was dedicated to improving the performance and visibility of Seamgen’s website to attract more leads and potential clients. My work involved a combination of technical SEO optimizations, content improvements, and collaboration with other team members to enhance the overall user experience of the website.
SEO Optimization and Tools
I was tasked with improving the SEO performance of the website using tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights and Ahrefs.com. I analyzed the website’s current performance, identifying areas for improvement such as fixing broken links, reducing file sizes, optimizing images, and ensuring efficient content delivery. I addressed these issues systematically, improving the website’s SEO score and user experience.
The Ahrefs dashboard provided critical insights into the overall health of Seamgen’s website. Using this tool, I tracked key metrics such as the health score, error distribution, and crawl status, which guided my efforts in fixing broken links, optimizing large files, and enhancing the site’s SEO performance.
HubSpot Development
As the website is hosted on HubSpot, I became proficient in using HubSpot’s CMS tools. I created new modules using HubL (HubSpot Markup Language) to enhance the functionality and design of the website. I also developed new web pages to promote Seamgen’s services and solutions, ensuring that these pages were optimized for SEO. This included writing metadata, optimizing images, and creating internal linking strategies to enhance SEO performance.
Agile Workflow and Collaboration
I worked within an agile environment, utilizing Jira to manage tasks, track progress, and collaborate with other team members. My role often involved working with software developers and content creators to plan and implement new modules and web pages. We coordinated our efforts to prioritize high-impact changes, such as optimizing the performance of critical pages and planning out future development tasks to keep improving the website.
Web Performance Optimization
One of the primary areas of focus was improving the website’s loading speed and performance using Google PageSpeed Insights. I optimized critical CSS, leveraged browser caching, deferred JavaScript loading, and minimized render-blocking resources to significantly improve the website’s performance metrics. This not only boosted our SEO rankings but also improved user experience by reducing load times.
This PageSpeed Insights report highlights the improvements I made to Seamgen’s website. By focusing on performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO, I optimized various aspects of the site, leading to a more efficient and user-friendly experience.
So far, I have significantly improved Seamgen’s website performance, resulting in higher SEO rankings and increased user engagement. As I continue my internship, I am commited to further enhancing both the technical and content aspects of the website, with the ongoing goal of driving even better SEO performance and deeper user engagement.
